The best thing...
about working in higher ed is the absurd amount of vacation time you get around the holidays. I am so stoked to have this whole week off. Of course, the worst thing about my current position is knowing that my contract is up in July and that I have no idea where I’m going to work next and feeling desperate and directionless whenever I look at job listings.

And of course...
moments after I alert the internet that I am never leaving bed again (except for snacks), I get up, take a shower, sort two weeks worth of laundry (and put a load in the washer), and make myself lunch.

VACATION
Not having to be at work today (and being on vacation until January 3rd) feels amazing. Plans include: never leaving bed, ever, except to get snacks.

BEST WEDNESDAY
I’m at my desk eating cake for breakfast My boss said that we can all leave early today… and that we don’t have to come in tomorrow, either! Not having to go into work tomorrow actually opens up the possibility that I might go to that house show that Drew is playing at tonight*. Either that or it means I’ll just stay up late watching creepy documentaries on Netflix...

I've been reading a lot...
on my dash lately about the role that property destruction and violent protest play in contemporary politically radical communities (much of this discussion has been sparked by the rampant reblogging of photos of UK students protesting the tuition fees increase, many of these photos w/o context or commentary) and I’ve got to say, at this stage in my life, I’m not comfortable with how...

how disgusting & yet unsurprising that lefty folks (including self-proclaimed feminists, including well-known self-proclaimed feminists like naomi wolf) are happy to sacrifice the rights & personhood of women & assault survivors when a leftist golden calf like assange is on the chopping block. somehow, when critical thinking is suspended, it seems like it’s usually women who...
